Established in 1856, the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur is claimed to be one of the oldest engineering colleges in India, however, it gained the status of an Institute of National Importance in 2014. The Institute offers BTech programmes in various engineering disciplines, such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science Engineering. IIEST provides MTech, MSc, MBA, and PhD programmes across multiple fields. IIEST Shibpur uses JEE Main scores for admission to undergraduate programmes.
