IIT Madras, IIT Palakkad launch collaborative educational initiatives for Bachelor of Science courses

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad have joined hands to enhance educational opportunities for students through shared resources, research internships and immersive summer programmes.

This collaboration agreement seeks to capitalise on the strengths of both institutions, broadening the learning experience for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BS) programmes at IIT Madras and undergraduate programmes at IIT Palakkad.

IITM had launched its four-year BS in Data Science and Applications programme in June 2020. This programme provides high-quality training through online content delivery complemented by in-person assessments. To date, over 30,000 students are actively participating in this programme.

Through this collaboration, IITM BS (Data Science and Applications) students who meet the eligibility criteria can fulfil their credit requirements by taking courses at IIT Palakkad. Additionally, the MoU also allows undergraduate students at IIT Palakkad to enroll in courses on Data Science and Programming from the IITM BS programme. The collaboration will also facilitate student exchange programmes, internship opportunities, and other joint initiatives.

This is not the first collaboration IIT Madras has established for this kind of partnership. IIT Gandhinagar, IIIT Hyderabad, and Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) have already made their campus courses available to eligible students from the IIT Madras BS (Data Science) degree programme.
