JAB takes U-turn, restores JEE-Advanced attempts to 2

JAB Restores JEE Advanced 2025 Attempts: A month after increasing the number of attempts for the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) from two to three this year, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years pertaining to number of attempts in JEE Advanced.

“The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years pertaining to number of attempts in JEE (Advanced), in supersession of the criterion mentioned in Press Release dated November 05, 2024. This has been done after considering various competing requirements in the meeting of JAB held on November 15, 2024. This has resulted in restoring the earlier eligibility criteria followed since 2013. All other eligibility criteria remain same. For further details please refer to the website https://jeeadv.ac.in/,” the official notice stated.

Earlier, the number of attempts was limited to twice in two consecutive years. The same has now been reversed.

The age limit is for candidates born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years’ age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, who should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

The other eligibility for JEE Advanced 2025 remains the same.

Aspirants should remember that a candidate should not have been admitted to an IIT under any academic programme that is listed in JoSAA Business Rules of 2024, irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the programme, or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past.

Candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled (for whatever reason) after joining any IIT are also not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.

Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can appear in JEE Advanced 2025.

The candidates who were allocated a seat in an IIT through JoSAA but (i) did not report “online” or, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, or, (iii) had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.
