Luv Sinha deletes post about brother-in-law Zaheer Iqbal’s father, says it was wrongly attributed to him: ‘Matter is closed now’

Actor Luv Sinha says a quote about his brother-in-law Zaheer Iqbal’s father written by a media person has been “incorrectly attributed” to him, days after he tweeted the news link, citing the reasons why he skipped attending his sister Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding. Actors Sonakshi and Zaheer had a registered marriage ceremony, held in the presence of close family and friends at her Bandra apartment on June 23.

He had written in his tweet, “The reasons are very clear as to why I didn’t attend, and would not associate with some people no matter what. I’m glad a member of the media did their research instead of relying on creative stories being put out by a PR team”.

Luv had also quoted a passage, talking about the groom’s father in the same tweet. In the paragraph Luv chose to share online, the Telegraph news piece claimed a “grey area”, writing about Zaheer Iqbal’s father’s “proximity to a politician whose ED enquiries had vanished in the ‘washing machine.’”

“Apparently, one reason for anxiety was a rumour about the groom’s antecedents. With carefully curated news stories about his family business, nobody tread grey areas like the groom’s father’s proximity to a politician whose ED enquiries had vanished in the “washing machine”. Nor was there a whiff of the groom’s father’s stint in Dubai, which was rumoured to have ended rather abruptly,” he had shared online.

Later, however, Luv deleted the quote from his X account and tweeted, “The quote that is being incorrectly attributed to me is not my statement and was written in an article by a senior journalist . The matter is now closed, and I will not be commenting on it any further.”

Though the media quote has been deleted, Luv’s tweet hinting Zaheer Iqbal’s father’s political connections being the reason behind his absence at the wedding still remains on his profile.

Sonakshi and Zaheer’s registered marriage was held in the presence of close family and friends at her Bandra apartment, followed by a star-studded celebration at Mumbai’s Bastian. While initial rumours suggested that Sonakshi’s parents Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha would skip the wedding, the duo was in attendance, as was her brother, Kussh Sinha, who had called it a “sensitive time for the family.”
