A collaboration brewing between Fahadh Faasil and Ram Gopal Varma? RGV’s new social media post fuels rumours
Cinephiles in India woke up to a surprise on Friday morning as renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s latest social media post led them to believe he was announcing a new movie. While Varma, popularly known by his initials RGV, no longer generates much excitement or hype among audiences due to the perceived decline in the quality of his recent films, this post made many jump to the assumption that he was finally poised for a grand comeback and that too with one of India’s finest contemporary actors.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, RGV shared a picture of actor Fahadh Faasil standing in what looked like a cave set, with golden light illuminating his tilted face. In the photo, Fahadh stands with his hands behind his back, dressed in a blue t-shirt and striped pants. A person with long hair sits on the ground in front of him, facing away. “1st ever shot I took of Fahadh Faasil and the expression on his face, he directed himself ????,” RGV captioned the image.

The post quickly went viral, sparking speculation about a potential collaboration between the two. But within two hours, RGV posted a selfie with Fahadh Faasil to clarify that the previous photo wasn’t a film announcement. “For the dumbos who believed the pic in my previous tweet that it was a film shot, it was just a random pic shot in a decorative tunnel at RGV DEN when Fahadh Faasil visited me ????????????,” he wrote.
Fahadh Faasil is currently basking in the success of his latest film, Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, where he shares the screen with Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Manju Warrier, among others. He is gearing up for his fourth release of the year, Bougainvillea, which will hit theatres next Thursday. RGV’s last directorial venture was the political thriller Vyuham (2024).
