Amitabh Bachchan recently celebrated his 82nd birthday, and has now added a brand-new BMW i7 luxury sedan to his impressive car collection. The electric vehicle, priced at Rs 2.03 crore, boasts top-of-the-line features and stunning design.
As seen in a video shared by Cars For You on YouTube, Bachchan’s BMW i7 sports the elegant two-tone Oxide Grey Metallic color, a premium paint option. The BMW i7’s opulent interior features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5.5-inch touchscreen at the rear. The car also comes with a 31.3-inch 8K resolution theatre screen with built-in Amazon FireTV for rear passengers.
Bachchan’s illustrious car collection is no secret, but few know that his automotive journey began with a humble second-hand Fiat 1100. On several occasions, the Bollywood legend has shared that he purchased this modest vehicle after the success of his debut film, Saat Hindustani, marking a milestone in his career and a reflection on his rise to stardom.
His affinity for luxury cars is well-known, and the BMW i7 is a fitting addition to his collection. Apart from his latest acquisition, the BMW i7, Amitabh Bachchan’s impressive car collection boasts an array of luxury vehicles. As a renowned car enthusiast, he also owns a Land Rover Defender, known for its rugged off-road capabilities. His garage also houses a sleek Bentley Continental GT, a luxurious Rolls Royce Phantom VII, and a spacious Lexus LX 570. Additionally, he has a stylish Mini Cooper S, showcasing his appreciation for compact yet powerful vehicles. This diverse collection reflects Bachchan’s passion for automotive excellence and his penchant for owning some of the world’s most iconic and desirable cars.
After the film Eklavya’s release, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra gifted Bachchan a Rolls Royce as a token of gratitude. The filmmaker’s mother wasn’t pleased about his decision. He said in an old interview, “I will never forget this incident. I took my mother with me when I was gifting the car to Amitabh. She handed him the keys. She came back, sat in my car, which was a blue Maruti van. She called Big B ‘Lamboo.’ I didn’t have a driver at the time, so I was driving. She told me, ‘Tu Lamboo nu gadi dede? (You gave the car to him?)’ I said, ‘Haan.’ She replied, ‘Tu khud kyun nahi leta gadi? (Why don’t you buy a car yourself?)’ I told her I will buy a car, there is time. She responded, saying, ‘11 lakh ki toh hogi (It must be worth Rs 11 lakh).’ And I laughed because she didn’t know that it was Rs 4 crore. I told her the cost, and she slapped me, calling me ‘bewakoof.’ I will never forget that because what is money if it can’t give you joy.”
