Actor Ananya Panday, who recently starred in the Netflix film CTRL, spoke about her favourite kind of influencer content. In the thriller film, she plays an online content creator who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy. Ananya said in an interview that she enjoys watching daily vlogs, and cited her cousin Alanna Panday and Alanna’s husband, Ivor McCray, as influences behind her performance in CTRL. Ananya said that she used to vlog about her daily life as well, but never actually shared those videos publicly. However, her vlogs were manipulated against her by none other than Aryan Khan, her childhood friend Suhana’s brother.

Appearing in a video posted on the Netflix India YouTube channel, Ananya and her CTRL director Vikramaditya Motwane, and her co-star Vihaan Samat, spoke about the kind of content they consume online. Vihaan said that he enjoys real estate vlogs, while Ananya confessed that she has dabbled in daily vlogging herself. She said, “I used to record what I do in a day and what I eat in a day, but not post it anywhere. I have it! PhotoBooth had just come out on Apple, and me, Suhana and Shanaya used to record stuff, and Aryan used to threaten us that he would leak those videos if we didn’t do work for him.”

Ananya humorously described it as a ‘random trauma story’, while the host of the conversation, comedian Tanmay Bhat, said that somebody needs to ‘have a word with Aryan’. Ananya continued, “We used to do makeup videos, and still, when I’m getting ready, I sometimes talk in the mirror. It’s a little weird.” Ananya, the daughter of Chunky Panday, is close friends with Shanaya, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor, and Suhana, the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan.

This isn’t the only internet-related story involving Suhana that she has told. In a recent interview, Ananya had confessed that she once mistakenly shared Suhana’s number on Instagram, which led to her phone being hacked. She said in a different video posted on the Netflix India YouTube channel, “So, I was FaceTiming her, and she wasn’t picking up, so I screenshotted the picture and put it up on Instagram, saying, ‘Missing Suhana, she’s not picking up’. And her number was right there. Then she called me and said, ‘My number got hacked’. I said, ‘Oh my God, what happened?’ I’d deleted the picture quickly, but then someone told her that I leaked it.”

In an appearance on the seventh season of Koffee with Karan, Ananya confessed that she had a crush on Aryan growing up. She said, “He is cute. I did have a crush on him while growing up. The reason why it didn’t fructify… well ask him.” CTRL debuted on Netflix to mixed reviews.
