Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 Contestants List: Elaborate sets, sofas, chairs, pillows, lounge beds, kitchen appliances and utensils, colourful walls, secret rooms, rationed resources, hundreds of cameras, 18-20 contestants, and millions watching their every move. It is time for Bigg Boss in Tamil, and the eighth season is set to offer so many new things, including the host. Kamal Haasan, who hosted the first seven seasons, has taken a break from the popular reality show. Vijay Sethupathi is the new host of Bigg Boss Tamil, which is set to begin on Sunday at 6 pm. While there has been no official announcement about the contestants entering the reality show, here are the celebrities expected to participate in Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8.

Ravindar Chandrasekaran

Known for backing films like Murungakkai Chips, producer Ravindar Chandrasekaran has been constantly in the news for both good and bad reasons. While running into controversy over financial issues, and even being arrested for alleged financial fraud keeps him in the news, his reviews of the previous seasons of Bigg Boss gained him popularity too. Known for not holding back his thoughts, his stint inside the house might provide the ingredients needed for the show to get explosive.

Ranjith

After years of playing solid supporting roles and even playing the lead in a few movies across languages like Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu, Ranjith recently was in the eye of the storm over his directorial, Kavundampalayam. While the film received rampant criticism for its archaic and regressive thoughts, Ranjith’s words during the promotional activities were criticised even more. So, it would be surprising to see how his ‘frank’ thoughts are received inside the house in front of all those cameras.

Arnav

Known for his stint as a television actor in various popular serials across channels, Arnav is currently part of Vijay TV’s Chellamma, and would be entering the show with hopes of cracking it into the big league.

Deepak

One of the most popular video jockeys in the history of Tamil television, Deepak has been dabbling as an actor in television serials. He has also had a brief but unsuccessful stint as a movie actor. With newer anchors taking centre stage, Deepak’s case is a classic story of ‘out of sight, out of mind’, and Bigg Boss might just be the right platform to showcase his talents.

Gaana Jeffry

One of the latest music sensations, Gaana Jeffry is speculated to enter the popular reality show. This isn’t the first time a rapper is entering the Bigg Boss house, and it would be interesting to see how long and impactful his stint might be this season.

Gokul Nath

Actor Gokul Nath is known for constantly pushing the boundaries of stage performances. He is also known for his dancing skills, mime acts, gymnastics, and body-bending performance arts. Bigg Boss Tamil does push you into some tight corners, and Gokul is equipped to traverse them.

RJ Ananthi

A successful radio jockey, an aspiring actor, and an YouTuber who specialises in giving book reviews in Tamil, Anandhi is a multi-faceted artiste who has developed a decent fan following, especially for her humourous and sensitive take on films. A clear-headed individual, who doesn’t shy away from talking about topics that are often considered taboo, it would be interesting to see how she fares inside the show that revels in the controversial.

Arun Prasad

Vijay TV, which airs Bigg Boss Tamil, is known for pushing talents from other shows to this reality series to ensure the viewership is intact thanks to the familiarity of the artistes. That is why we often see contestants who are headlining TV shows on the channel, or are part of other reality shows under the same umbrella. One such earnest talent is actor Arun Prasad, who is known for not just starring in the show Bharathi Kannamma, but also for abruptly leaving the show.

VJ Vishal

A popular face in the television circuit, VJ Vishal became a household name thanks to various serials, including Kalyanamam Kalyanam, and gained popularity due to his stint in Season 4 of popular cooking show, Cooku With Comali. Even if he didn’t survive too many episodes on the show, he won people over with his charm and innocence, and would hope it continues inside the Bigg Boss house too.

Muthukumaran

Another popular face in the YouTube circuit, Muthukumaran is also known for his grasp over Tamil language, his oratory skills, and his interviews with popular celebrities of Tamil cinema. An aspiring actor, Muthukumaran joins the list of YouTube interviewers transitioning to the reality show, which includes names like Abishek Raaja. It would be interesting if his linguistic abilities and gift of the gab gets a huge platform, and he breaks into the collective consciousness of the Tamil audience, and the filmmakers’ minds.

Another homegrown talent, Jacqueline has managed to earn a decent fan following thanks to her stints in various shows as an anchor and an actor on Vijay TV. Although she isn’t part of many Vijay TV shows anymore, Jacqueline is doing well for herself on social media. Isn’t that an important yardstick now?

Soundariya Nanjundan

Social media popularity is now a prerequisite for any actor trying to ply their wares in cinema. Gone are the days when acting in films was enough to start a portfolio. Now, social media expects actors to have a more well-rounded presence, and a distinct personality. While it isn’t always possible to break into this space, continued efforts often pay rich dividends. And Soundariya, who has been part of films like Darbar and series like Vera Maari Office, might just bear the fruits of her patience on this show.

Pavithra Janani

Pavithra is another contestant who seems to fit the theme of this year’s show. She too has starred in a Vijay TV show, and moved on to explore opportunities in cinema. And now, she is expected to do the next most logical option available to many talents in today’s time. Join Bigg Boss.

Sachana Namidass

A young actor, and possibly the youngest contestant in this edition of Bigg Boss Tamil, Sachana has already developed a connect with the new host. Sachana recently played a pivotal role in Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja, and has also acted in projects like August 16, 1947.

Sunita Gogoi

Sunita is one of the darlings of Vijay TV, and her presence in five seasons of Cooku with Comali has made her a household name. Despite facing linguistic difficulties, many praise her for her sportive nature, and incessant trolling never deters her from trying her hand in speaking, and even singing in Tamil. She is also an accomplished dancer and has participated in several dance reality shows.

Anshika

Another actor who won hearts with her histrionics in a television serial, and regaled the audience with her comic timing in Cooku with Comali is Anshika. Her presence seems to be a sureshot confirmation, and considering many entrants know each other for a long time, topics about ‘team game’ and ‘favouritism’ can be disposed of. Because that is exactly what is set to happen. Or would there be a change?

Dharsha Gupta

Dharsha is someone who would definitely look at Bigg Boss as the right stepping stone into the big league. She is one of the early additions to the list of people who have taken the now-familiar route of television serials, Cooku with Comali, and an active social media profile to enter the reality show.

Tharshika

Tharshika, known for her starring role in Ponni, is also known for her YouTube channel, where she vlogs and vibes with her audience. It would be interesting to see if the loyal subscribers turn into faithful voters when it comes to those weekend episodes where Tharshika might be up for elimination. It would be interesting to see how this facet of fandom works.

Other names doing the rounds include noted cinema personalities Poonam Bajwa and VTV Ganesh, television superstar Alya Manasa, and fledgling TV and cinema actors Dhivya Duraisamy and Roshni Haripriyan.
