The results of the 70th CCE Prelims and the cut-off marks were announced on January 23, The examination was conducted on December 13 while a re-exam was held on January 4 for candidates who appeared for the initial exam at the Bapu exam centre in Patna.

A total number of 3,28,990 candidates appeared for the examination, with 21,581 candidates qualifying for various posts and services under the Combined Competitive Examination. Among the successful candidates, 61 were selected for the Finance Administrative Officer post, and 144 for the Child Development Project Officer post.

The BPSC 70th CCE faced controversy after an incident at the Bapu Exam Centre, where there were allegations of irregularities, including delayed distribution of question papers and an insufficient number of papers. This led to protests, with candidates going on a hunger strike, and opposition parties joining the protests. Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishor also staged a 14-day hunger strike in solidarity.

Despite these issues, the BPSC maintained that only a re-exam would be conducted for the affected centre, emphasizing that there was no sufficient evidence to support the call for a state-wide re-test.

However, the results remain provisional, as the Patna High Court is currently hearing a case regarding the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the examination. BPSC has stated that the final outcome of the preliminary examination results will depend on the court’s decision.
