Devara box office collection day 9: Jr NTR-starrer overtakes Teja Sajja’s superhero film HanuMan, earns over Rs 230 crore

Jr NTR starrer Devara released amid much hype a few days ago and after earning Rs 215.6 crore nett in the domestic market during its first week, the film is trying to maintain its stronghold at the box office during its second weekend. On its ninth day in the theatres, Devara made Rs 8.75 crore across India taking its nett total to Rs 230.35 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film has resonated strongly with Telugu and Hindi-speaking audiences, drawing its highest box office returns from these regions. Early estimates suggest that the Telugu version contributed Rs 5.45 crore on Saturday, while the Hindi version earned Rs 3 crore. The film achieved an overall occupancy rate of 29.51 percent in Telugu-speaking areas and 14.03 percent in Hindi-speaking regions on Saturday.

Devara, which launched its box office journey with an impressive Rs 82.5 crore on Day 1, witnessed a major dip in collections on the second day. The numbers stayed consistent for the next couple of days, however, by day 6, the earnings dropping to single digits. Devara has now overtaken one of the biggest surprise hits from Telugu this year, Teja Sajja’s HanuMan. The superhero film made Rs 227.5 crore during its run.

While Devara is currently enjoying a relatively competition-free second weekend, it will face a crowded market next weekend with the release of two major Bollywood films – Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Additionally, there were concerns that the Hollywood film Joker: Folie à Deux might impact Devara’s collections, but the movie failed to make a significant impression in India, allowing Devara to enjoy an uninterrupted run at the box office.

Directed by Koratala Siva and produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, Devara Part 1 also stars Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role, marking her debut in Telugu cinema.
