IIM-Amritsar launches new executive MBA programme

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar has launched a new two-year Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme. This programme is designed to equip working professionals with enhanced leadership capabilities, strategic acumen, and the skills needed to navigate dynamic and volatile environments effectively.

According to a statement issued by the Institute, the IIM Amritsar’s EMBA programme combines the flexibility of a blended-learning format with a curriculum fostering data-driven decision-making, robust analytical capabilities and the agility to lead through organisational and digital transformation. It places particular emphasis on mastering global uncertainties through innovation, effective communication and conflict resolution, enabling learners to apply these key learnings across industries and strengthen their professional profiles, the statement added.

The global executive education market, valued at USD 42.5 billion in 2023, is projected to grow at a CAGR of 12.7 per cent, reaching USD 98.6 billion by 2030. This surge is driven by rapid technological progress, globalisation and evolving leadership demands, an IIM Amritsar statement sad.

It reiterated that according to the Future of Jobs Report 2023, 23 per cent of jobs will transform within five years, creating 69 million new roles. To thrive, leaders must cultivate skills like emotional intelligence, resilience, change management and technological literacy and an Asia-Pacific CEO survey further highlights that 97 per cent of CEOs are reimagining their businesses, with 75 per cent ready to embrace change, thus highlighting the need for upskilling to address skill gaps and drive sustainable growth amid evolving global demands.

The EMBA programme seeks to cater to professionals from diverse sectors, including IT, HR, marketing, banking, financial services, manufacturing, supply chain, consulting, among others. It is structured in two phases: the first year builds a robust foundation of core management skills, including entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, strategy, organisational behaviour and operations.

In the second year, learners will explore advanced topics such as security analysis, portfolio management and business intelligence. Integrated field projects and capstone simulations further enhance learning, providing real-world applicability.

Learners, IIM Amritsar said, will benefit from three campus immersions during the programme’s tenure. The curriculum spans essential subjects, such as financial reporting, competition and strategy, consumer behaviour, operations research, business ethics, etc., alongside two electives tailored to learner profiles.

The programme’s pedagogy integrates case studies, role plays, simulations and project-based learning, ensuring a practical, application-oriented approach. The programme will be delivered via TimesPro’s Interactive Learning (IL) platform in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode and will offer learners unlimited access to class recordings and remote library resources. Upon successful completion, learners will also gain prestigious IIM Amritsar alumni status.
