
IIT Delhi: Last 5 years NIRF rankings
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) is one of the premier institutes in the country that has remained under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Education Ministry. In 2024, the Delhi-based institute ranked second with a score of 86.66.
Not only under the engineering category, the institute also ranked fourth in the management category. Here’s a list of the last five years’ rankings of IIT Delhi on various categories of the NIRF.
The engineering table of the institute shows that it has maintained its rankings in the last five years, but has also failed to surpass IIT Madras which has continued to dominate in the list.
The table above shows that the Institute has dwindled between rank 3 and 4. In 2024, the Institute scored 80.31 with the fourth rank.
With a rank of 8 in 2020, the Institute has now climbed four positions up. In 2024, it ranked four with a score of 76.25.
Not only in NIRF but in the QS Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education experts IIT Delhi in 2024 (globally 171st rank) saw an improvement of 255 ranks, followed by IIT Kharagpur at 202 rank globally, an improvement of 147 ranks, and the third rank has been taken by IIT Bombay with an improvement of 69 ranks (global rank 234).
Meanwhile, IIT Delhi students have secured over 1200 job offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), with about 1150 individual students being uniquely selected, as per a statement by the institute. The placement season for the academic year 2024–25 has been completed.
Moreover, the students have also received over 50 international offers from more than 15 organisations across multiple regions, including Japan, Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan, UAE, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
