IPL CSK Team 2025 Players List: Chennai Super Kings’ love for the old school was back in the fore as they brought back local boy Ravichandran Ashwin for a special reunion after 10 years on Day 1 of the IPL mega auction in Jeddah. Ashwin was bagged for Rs 9.75 crore, with Vijay Shankar and Devon Conway also returning to the franchise.

The trend continued on Day 2 as they brought back Sam Curran for Rs 2.40 crore, Shaik Rasheed and Mukesh Choudhary.

CSK will embrace the fresh IPL cycle with one eye on their transition after MS Dhoni stepped down from captaincy last season. In a new cycle under Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK will inevitably look at revamping their squad without entirely giving up on their legacy.

With the 43-year-old Dhoni staying put for another season, CSK managed to retain their talisman without splurging a fortune. The new IPL rule allowing Indian internationals to be bracketed in the uncapped category if they have gone five years without a BCCI contract or national team appearance helped CSK to secure Dhoni for as low as Rs 4 crore. CSK also retained all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for as high as 18 crore, alongside skipper Ruturaj, despite the 35-year-old recently retiring from T20Is. Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana firmed up other retentions, leaving the side with one RTM card for the IPL Mega Auction.
