IPU launches new courses in psychology, geoinformatics

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has introduced new courses in psychology and geoinformatics, expanding its academic offerings to cater to emerging industry needs.

The School of Liberal Arts at GGSIPU has incorporated psychology as the fourth major discipline within its 5-year BA-MA Liberal Arts Programme, alongside history, political science, and sociology. This interdisciplinary program, designed under the National Education Policy (NEP), aims to empower students with the knowledge and skills to analyze human behavior and thought processes.

In an era of rapid social change, understanding psychology is crucial for addressing societal challenges related to mental health and well-being. By integrating psychology with other disciplines, students will develop comprehensive problem-solving skills, enabling them to tackle complex social, political, economic, and cultural issues.

Additionally, the University School of Environment Management (USEM) at GGSIPU has launched a two-year postgraduate programme in Applied Geoinformatics, starting in the 2025-26 academic session. Admission to this programme will be based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and CET (Common Entrance Test, conducted by the University) scores, as well as merit in the qualifying examination.

The eligibility criteria for the Applied Geoinformatics program include a graduation degree in science, engineering, or geography with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate for general category students and 45 per cent marks for SC/ST candidates.

Furthermore, USEM has also initiated the admission process for its BSc in Environmental Science programme. Admission will be based on the CUET and CET scores, as well as merit in the qualifying examination, with eligibility criteria requiring 10+2 (science) with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate for general category students and 45 per cent marks for SC/ST candidates.
