JEE Main 2024 Answer Key Out: How will NTA award marks for 6 dropped questions?

JEE Main 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) today (February 12) released the final answer key of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024, session 1. Students who appeared for the January session can check the answer key at the official JEE website — jeemain.nta.ac.in.

This time, the NTA has dropped six questions in the final answer key — three in Mathematics and three in Physics. Check the list of questions dropped from the JEE Main 2024 session 1 exams:

The dropped questions can lead to an addition to marks for JEE Main 2024 Session 1. As per NTA information brochure, “If a question is dropped then full marks will be awarded to all candidates who have appeared irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.” This is specific to MCQ type questions.

For numerical value questions, if a question is found to be incorrect or the question is dropped then four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.

Additionally, a Physics question from the January 30 (first shift) with the question ID 533543864 has two answers: 5335432831, 5335432832. In such as case, four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.

The provisional answer key for JEE Main 2024 Session 1 was released on February 6 and and candidates were given time till February 9 to challenge the answer key. NTA then went through the raised objections and released the final answer key today. NTA will now release the JEE Main 2024 results on the basis of the final answer key.
