NEET PG 2024: SC issues notice to MCC to conduct fresh round 3 counselling amid instances of seat blocking

NEET PG Fresh Round 3 Counselling Notice 2025: The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on a plea seeking direction for the Committee to conduct afresh round three counselling for NEET PG 2024. The bench included Justices BR Gavai and K Vinod Chandran.

The plea states that there have been instances of seat blocking by candidates following a delay in the completion of round two counselling in Madhya Pradesh.

The petition filed by three NEET PG candidates in the Supreme Court contends that NEET PG AIQ round three counselling was “compromised” as it began before the completion of round two counselling in various states, particularly Madhya Pradesh.

The petitioners have argued that because of such situations, a few state quota candidates — who otherwise would not be eligible – got to chance to block NEET PG AIQ seats while still securing better seats through state quota. They claim that such practice had put other meritorious candidates at a disadvantage.

As reported by LiveLaw, the petitioners wanted to seek a direction for MCC to conduct a fourth round of counselling for vacant seats which were blocked by candidates earlier where NEET PG round two was not concluded.

They also in their plea wanted an option for candidates who were eligible for AIQ round 3 to register for the NEET PG 2024 stray round of counselling.
