Two days before Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra hit the big screens, Rana Daggubati, who presented the film in Telugu, organised a pre-release event in Hyderabad, which was attended by Alia, her co-stars Vedang Raina and Rahul Ravindran, director Vasan Bala, guest filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas and star Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Several pictures and videos from the event surfaced online, including one that shows Samantha and Rana meeting warmly on stage. Samantha was married to Rana’s cousin, actor Naga Chaitanya.

A Reddit user posted a video of Rana and Samantha from the event, where they could be seen walking with their arms across each other’s shoulders, while the Jigra song, “Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai,” played in the background. The user captioned the video: “It felt like Rana called Samantha (he’s the presenter/distributor for Jigra in Telugu) cause she was/is his sister and Jigra is a brother-sister film.”

Samantha was invited as a special guest at the event along with Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Guntur Kaaram filmmaker Trivikram Srinivasan.

Many shared their views in the post’s comments section. A user wrote, “I agree!! Daggubatis really stood by Samantha during all this fiasco, especially Rana.” Another user commented, “The thing with Rana is that he is a really genuine person. If he knows u well then know matter what, he will be cordial with u.” Other comments read, “Happy to see this”, and “This is sweet”.

At the event, Samantha addressed the audience and praised Rana Daggubati. She said, “I wish we had a brother who champions and distributes films featuring women, like Rana.”

Previously, Rana talked about his bonding with Samantha, and told Siddharth Kannan, “Everyone has hardships in their life. Everyone will have something that is life-changing, that’s life-threatening. It’s about how you deal with it, and when you want to speak about it. So, it’s not that everyone has to sit and talk about all sad. It’s not necessary. It’s important that sad things happen but the beauty is to get back up and keep going.”
