Superstar Rajinikanth’s house flooded as relentless rains continue to batter Chennai. Watch videos
As torrential rains continue to pummel Tamil Nadu’s capital city of Chennai, throwing normal life out of gear, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the worst is yet to come. For Chennai, which has already been grappling with waterlogging and traffic gridlock in many areas, this forecast only deepens the blow. This time, however, the relentless rains have not spared even the affluent people across all social strata. Among the notable figures affected is “Superstar” Rajinikanth, whose official residence was inundated.
Now, photos and videos showing floodwater entering Rajinikanth’s luxurious villa in the upscale Poes Garden area of Teynampet, Chennai, have gone viral on social media. The Superstar’s home, a popular tourist attraction in the city that draws scores of visitors daily, who come to catch a glimpse of the structure and take photos in front of it, stands alongside the residences of other prominent persons such as the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and actor Dhanush, as well as other celebrities, industrialists and well-known lawyers.

According to Deccan Herald, the heavy rains, combined with an overwhelmed drainage system, caused flooding around the villa located in the high-security zone. The media house also noted that emergency measures were swiftly initiated by local authorities to pump out water from the legendary actor’s residence, with Rajinikanth’s staff working efficiently to minimise damage. While Rajinikanth has yet to comment on the matter, reports indicate that other celebrity residences in the area also faced similar challenges.
According to the meteorological department, the worst is yet to come, with rains expected to intensify today before easing by October 18. The low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which has already caused chaos in Chennai and nearby districts, is expected to strengthen into a depression as it approaches the coast.
