The Electric State trailer: Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt team up with robots to bring Simon Stalenhag’s dystopian tale to life
The Electric State unites Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt for a highly anticipated big-screen adventure. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Thursday, showcasing a star-studded cast.
The trailer opens with Millie’s character narrating a backstory of a failed robot uprising that left robots stripped of autonomy and fractured human connections. Millie plays an orphaned young woman who, having lost her entire family, finds a glimmer of hope upon discovering a mysterious robot that seems linked to her presumed-dead brother. Determined to reunite with him, she embarks on a daring mission with the help of Pratt’s character, Keats.
According to the official synopsis, “As they venture into the Exclusion Zone, a walled-off corner in the desert where robots now exist on their own, Keats and Michelle find a strange, colorful group of new animatronic allies — and begin to learn that the forces behind Christopher’s disappearance are more sinister than they ever expected.”
The film also features Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito and Woody Norman. Additionally, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk lend their voices to the film’s robotic characters. It is directed by Anthony and Joseph Russo. Based on the graphic novel by Simon Stalenhag, The Electric State was adapted for the screen by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. They were the screenwriters behind the Russo brothers’ Marvel Cinematic Universe films and their 2022 Netflix film The Gray Man.
The Electric State will release on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
