Triptii Dimri kept flubbing her lines in front of Ranbir Kapoor during crucial Animal scene: ‘I felt extreme performance pressure’

Actor Triptii Dimri broke into the mainstream with her extended cameo in the blockbuster film Animal, in which she worked opposite Ranbir Kapoor. In an interview, she described what it was like to star alongside him, and said that he was very understanding with her on set. Their conversations didn’t go beyond the usual cordial exchange, but she said that she enjoyed whatever interactions they had. Animal ended up making over Rs 900 crore worldwide, and since then, Triptii has grabbed leading roles in many prominent releases.

Appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, she was asked about her experience with Ranbir, who has established himself as one of the most bankable stars of his generation. She said, “As an actor, you have to be very calm and secure as a person. When you’re a good person, if you believe in helping others, that makes a big difference. And I felt that with Ranbir.”

She continued, “I remember, during my big confession scene, I was under extreme performance pressure that day. I kept flubbing my lines over and over again. An actor I’ve admired all my life is standing in front of me, I’m supposed to perform the scene with him… We shot this scene in the early days, but something was off that day. Normally, I’m able to cry on cue, but that day, no matter what I did, I couldn’t cry. That day, all I needed was a little support from someone. And that’s what Ranbir gave me.”

She said that nobody put pressure on her to get her act together, even though they had four scenes in total slotted for that day. They eventually shot just one, but Ranbir was understanding. He told her that they would work according to her comfort, which greatly reassured Triptii. “I felt safe, I felt I could be myself and experiment with my craft. I didn’t have the fear of messing up,” she said, describing Ranbir as a ‘curious’ person who’s always interested to know more about people.

Triptii can currently be seen in the film Vicky Vidya Ka Voh Wala Video.
