— India does not allow dual citizenship, and taking up the citizenship of another country automatically results in the cancellation of Indian citizenship. Hence, statement 1 is correct.
— The number of Indians who relinquished their citizenship in 2021 marked a sharp increase in comparison to 2020 and 2019. The total number of Indians who relinquished their citizenship are:
2019: 1,44.017
2020: 85,256 Hence, statement 3 is not correct.

— He was from the village of Nandavi in Raigad and came to Mumbai, then Bombay, in his youth to pursue his studies and a career.
— Joshi’s rise in politics was a gradual process. After completing his law degree from Mumbai University, he worked as an officer in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
— He first contested the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls and served as a corporator from 1968 to 1972. Four years later, he entered the Legislative Council where he remained till 1989 and in between, from 1976 to 1977, also served as the Mayor of Mumbai.
— It was during this time that he got inspired by Thackeray’s clarion call to the sons of the soil (the Marathi manoos) to fight for the community.

— Article 72 of the Constitution of India provides for the power of President to grant pardons, etc., and to suspend, remit or commute sentences in certain cases.
— The President shall have the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence of any person convicted of any offence —
(a) in all cases where the punishment or sentence is by a Court Martial;
(b) in all cases where the punishment or sentence is for an offence against any law relating to a matter to which the executive power of the Union extends;
(c) in all cases where the sentence is a sentence of death.
— Nothing in sub-clause (a) of clause (1) shall affect the power conferred by law on any officer of the Armed Forces of the Union to suspend, remit or commute a sentence passed by a Court Martial.

— The Sixth Schedule under Article 244 provides for the formation of autonomous administrative divisions — Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) — that have some legislative, judicial, and administrative autonomy within a state.
— The Sixth Schedule applies to the Northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram (three Councils each), and Tripura (one Council).
— If there are different Scheduled Tribes in an autonomous district, the Governor may, by public notification, divide the area or areas inhabited by them into autonomous regions.
