Vicky Vidya Ka Voh Wala Video box office collection day 4: Rajkummar Rao-Tripti Dimrii’s raunchy comedy sees a significant dip, passes Rs 20 cr
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, the raunchy comedy film starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, is performing poorly at the box office compared to Rajkummar’s last release, Stree 2. Despite this, the film has managed to consistently earn in single digits, indicating a steady, albeit slow, revenue stream.
Industry tracking website Sacnilk reports that Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video maintained a steady daily earnings trajectory, generating Rs 5.5 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 6.9 crore on day two, and Rs 6.4 crore on day three. However, the film experienced a notable dip on day four, earning Rs 2.25 crore nett in India, which brings its total collection to Rs 21.05 crore.
The overall Hindi occupancy on Monday stood at 10.96%, with most people opting to watch the night shows of the raunchy comedy, directed by filmmaker Raaj Shaandiliyaa. The number of shows for the film has been dropping slowly in several cities. In Mumbai, where the film opened with 587 shows, it now has 516 shows and the cooupancy observed was 14.25%. In Delhi and NCR the occupancy stood at 10% for 899 shows (There were 993 shows on the day the film debuted in the national capital).
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video may have edged out Alia Bhatt’s Jigra at the box office, but its performance pales in comparison to Rajkummar Rao’s previous blockbuster, Stree 2, which raked in an impressive Rs 55.9 crore on day four. Additionally, Triptii Dimri’s last outing, Bad Newz, also outperformed Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video on its fourth day, earning Rs 3.5 crore.
Furthermore, director Raaj Shaandilyaa’s latest film falls short of his own previous success with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2, which collected Rs 5.42 crore on day four, indicating a relatively lackluster response to Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
In comparison, Jigra has earned Rs 18.10 crore so far, with a fourth-day collection of Rs 1.50 crore. Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has surpassed Jigra’s collection, despite receiving mixed reviews. However, it is essential to consider the disparity in their release strategies. The Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri-starrer enjoyed a wider release, with over 3500 shows, whereas Alia Bhatt’s Jigra had approximately 2800 shows, giving VVKWVV a significant advantage in terms of screen count on its first day in cinemas.
The film tells the story of Vicky and Vidya, a newlywed couple, who embark on a hilarious journey to recover their missing “suhagraat CD” in Rishikesh. The film features an ensemble cast, including Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat, Mast Ali, Archana Puran Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Saharsh Kumar Shukla, Archana Patel, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania and Ashwini Kalsekar.
Produced by T-Series Films, Balaji Motion Pictures, Wakaoo Films, and Kathavachak Films, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has managed to entertain audiences with its slapstick comedy, but most film critics have called it a crash course in crassness.
