Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video box office collection day 1: Rajkummar Rao-starrer competing against Jigra despite bigger release, earns Rs 5 crore
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video box office collection day 1: The Dussehra weekend saw a clash between two Bollywood films: Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s comedy Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWVV), directed by Raaj Shaandilya, and Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s actioner Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. As of now, VVKWVV is in the lead, but only by Rs 75,000, as the film has earned Rs 5 crore nett in India, as per industry tracking website Sacnilk.
Even though Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s film has a marginally higher collection, it is to be noted that the film had a bigger release in comparison to Jigra. VVKWVV had over 3500 shows, while Jigra had around 2800 shows. According to Sacnilk, VVKWVV registered a 17.18 percent occupancy across India. In Mumbai region, where there were 587 shows, the occupancy stood at 14.50 percent, whereas in Delhi-NCR region, a 16.75 percent occupancy was observed for 993 shows.
Rajkummar Rao’s last release Stree 2 had a fantastic opening and became the biggest hit of 2024. The film earned Rs 51.8 crore on opening day and collected over Rs 800 crore at the worldwide box office. Director Raaj Shaandilya, who previously helmed the successful Dream Girl 2 (2023) starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, had a stronger opening for his last release. According to Bollywood Hungama, Dream Girl 2 opened to an impressive Rs 10.69 crore, whereas Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’s opening figures are substantially lower, marking a 50% drop.

Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, on the other hand, opened to mixed reviews and opened at Rs 4.25 crore (Hindi: Rs 4.2 crore ; Telugu: Rs 0.05 crore). This is Alia’s lowest opener since 2014’s Highway. She was last seen in Karan Johar’s highly successful Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani last year.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video also stars Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania, and Ashwini Kalsekar, marking Mallika Sherawat’s acting comeback.nce
