As the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 are around, many students and parents might be wondering whether schools and colleges would continue to function regularly or not. The Delhi Elections will be held in a single phase on February 5 with results to be out on February 8.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has already announced that all the central government offices, including industrial establishments in Delhi, will be closed on the election day for the employees to exercise their democratic right.

Additionally, on the election day, various schools and colleges participate in the election process and are declared as polling booths. As a regular practice followed in every election, schools and colleges are remained closed on the election day.

However, for educational institutions that are declared as polling booths, a day before the election day is also sometimes announced as a holiday by the concerned institution. For instance, this year, the school section of the Jamia Milia Islamia is closed on both February 4 and 5 due to Delhi elections 2025.

Such decisions are made to facilitate the transfer of the school premises to the relevant authorities and prepare it for elections.

At the same time, the Office of the District Election Officer, District South West has issued a notice to the Deputy Director of Education for South West Delhi to organise a ‘Prabhat Rally’ for students in various schools under their jurisdiction. The rally will take place on February 3 from 9 am.
